Sunday, Rest Day!

We slept in on our rest day today. For me that meant 7:30am (v.6:30am) and for Marie that was 6am (v. 4:45am) so we had a leisurely start to the day. We checked out of the hotel around 10:45am and went to the store to re-stock groceries and fill the truck's gas tank. Then off to the Abilene Regional airport to pick up Kay! The ratttlesnake sign was posted at the airport, Welcome to West Texas! We were a little worried about her flight as the wind was up to about 22 mph. Fortunately, she said it was a relatively smooth trip except for a very hard landing. We set off for tonight’s hotel which is a little closer to our starting point tomorrow than Abilene. Once we reached our destination, we decided to have lunch and found a great mexican restaurant with a full parking lot which is always a good sign. We were seated outside under the awning and were surprisingly quite comfortable despite it being 91 degrees. (dry heat) We started the meal with fresh guacamole made table side which was delicious. We all had different meals and everyone left happy and sated.

We arrived at the hotel and fit Kay to Madeleine's bike (thanks Madeleine!) and no adjustments were necessary. We also fit her to the ebike as the roads tomorrow are bumpy. We want her to have options since the ebike has some suspension and marginally thicker tires may feel more comfortable. We are starting early tomorrow as the high by mid-afternoon is forecast to be 95 degrees. If we finish by noon it is anticipated to only be 77 degrees.

Have a nice week ahead!
