We started the day right with a great breakfast: egg souffle, strawberry cobbler, bacon and ham made by our host, Bob.

We headed back to where we stopped on Revolutionary Trail in Allendale for a 38 mile ride. The ride was mostly on back roads with Pine farms on both sides of the road. Again, that meant more logging trucks! Fortunately, it was generally quiet. Halfway through the ride, we crossed our first state line from SC to GA!! How fun. We stopped at the GA Welcome Center and learned that it was the oldest Welcome Center in the country. I added a picture of the hosts at the center. We were about 20 miles from we are staying and yet the hosts at the Welcome Center knew Cathy and Bob. I mentioned Cathy's name (first name only) outloud and they asked if it was the owner of Kinchley Place. Small world and even smaller around here apparently. They were very helpful and gave us a free coke product. The ride started to get hillier today. Madeleine worked with me on my hill technique. Hopefully, as I improve I won't shudder when I see hills ahead. Marie met us every 10-15 miles so that we could have a quick break and lunch after 25 miles. She also sent us text messages about dogs. Although we had substantially less traffic to navigate, we had more loose and seemingly aggressive dogs to contend with which we find scary. Madeleine would make sure I was close behind her before we approached a house and then we would sprint past it. The last 12 miles were full of bike sprints which can be exhausting but we made it past about 8-10 dogs (labs, rotweillers, pit bulls and cattle dogs) coming for us. I am surprised to write this but I am looking forward to the highway tomorrow.
