We started our Thursday with a delightful breakfast at our B&B, The Courthouse Inn in Clarksville TX. Jill made us delicious cheesy scramble eggs, bacon, sausage, English muffins and fresh fruit. Perry and Jill joined us for breakfast and we learned about all of Perry’s interesting ventures and family. He also showed us his antique music box with metal discs and played us some music. It was very neat. We enjoyed the lovely B&B filled with antiques and wrap-around porch and our wonderful hosts. Best place to stay in/near Clarksville, Texas

After breakfast and goodbyes, we set off for our starting point for the day. We rode an easy 12 miles and then the road became less fun. Both the road and shoulder were rough so it was just more effort to ride. We also started getting some wind coming in sideways which added to our effort. After 13 more miles, we found Marie waiting for us on a pretty tree-lined road and had a nice break. We passed through Detroit and Reno on our way to Paris 😂. Our next stop was planned for Wal-Mart 10 plus miles ahead at the city limit of Paris, Texas. We decided to restock our cooler and pick up some lunch at Subway to eat at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Eiffel Tower is 65 feet high and capped by a large red cowboy hat. It’s a fun tourist stop. Sam found us quiet back roads for the 5 miles out of Paris and then we were back on TX 82. We lost the shoulder for about a mile although it was two lanes at that point. Sam was patient as I rode slowly trying to be safe with the rough road, no shoulder, fast traffic and wind. Fortunately, the shoulder came back and we rode to our meeting point with Marie. In total, about 45 miles today.

We then went to our hotel, showered and Marie and I took a nap. We ordered in pizza and salad for dinner and are having a relaxing evening.
