We started the day with Dale discovering that his bike had a flat tire. It took the three of us and the help of Neil from Landry's video but we got the tire changed. We set out from Macon and rode 16 miles. At 16 miles, we took a break from riding the rolling terrain and discovered that the tire was flat again. Fortunately Marie was just a couple of miles ahead and she found us and with tools from the truck and the tire Marie had patched earlier, Dale changed the tire again. We made it through the rest of the day without incident. Marie pulled into another church along our route and we had a lovely lunch at about mile 30. We saw a lot of kudzo while biking today which is a perennial vine. It is nicknamed "the plant that ate the South". It can grow up to a foot a day. It can kill trees by girdling them and the weight can cause trees to topple easily in a storm. It looks like frost on the trees during its dormant season. The end of a 40 mile biking day landed us in Eutaw, AL. We headed to one of the few motels in the area and settled in for the evening. Two notable things about our stay. We again had a language issue with the man checking us into the hotel. He kept asking us if we had "beds" in the truck and we were confused but said no. We finally understood what he was asking us - did we have "pets" in the truck. Once resolved, the check-in went smoothly. For the second time on this trip, we had really good fried chicken for a meal which we got from a local gas station. We ate in the lobby of the hotel and had lots of inquiries from people checking in about where to get a similar meal.

Although if feels as though we are in our little world as bike on this adventure, our hearts are heavy as we keep up with global events and what is happening in Ukraine.
