Rest Day!

We got up early this am to drop Kay at the airport at 5:50am. After we dropped Kay off, it seemed to Marie and me like a perfect opportunity to go out for breakfast. We felt a little guilty as we dropped Kay at the airport with no nourishment as nothing opened before 6am but that didn’t stop us. After a delicious breakfast we headed back to the hotel for naps. Although we were sad to see Kay off, we were looking forward to the arrival of Katye, our niece, at 1pm. Despite having left for Logan airport at 2:30am to fly to Roswell, Katye arrived alert and in good spirits. We headed to lunch and planned out the rest of the day. We gave her the choice of the UFO museum or going to Bottomless Lakes State Park. We were happy she chose the natural beauty. The park was far busier on this warm Sunday than we experienced on Friday. All the picnic tables were full and the swimming area was crowded. It felt joyful as well as being beautiful.

We went back to the hotel for dinner from the truck and then decided to fit Katye to the bike so we were set to get on the bikes first thing in the am. Big (unpleasant) surprise - the seat did not go down far enough to fit Katye. She is 5 foot 1 inch tall and blames her parents for this predicament: her father for her short legs and her Mom who has long legs that she gave those genes to her sister. I blame poor planning on my part. The local bike shop was closed until Tuesday at 10am, 1.5 days away so the brainstorming began. We called Sam, called Dale and googled. We discovered the we could trim the seat pole which ultimately seemed to be our only option short of buying a new bike or Katye not riding. We made plans for Marie to go to Home Depot in the am, I said a few prayers and we went to bed.
