Marie and I have known each other since I was 16 and dating her brother. After college, we became sisters-in-law and have supported each other through many life events. I am looking forward to having this time with her and know she will be an amazing support, fun companion and keep us organized and safe throughout the trip.
Ann’s cross-country bike adventure
I retired on January 3, 2002 after a wonderful career - now what do I do? I got this crazy idea to bike across the country. My son Sam, having biked this route two times, was my inspiration. He had an amazing experience both times and talked about the landscape, friendly people and thrill of completing the trip. I am making this trip at the age of 63 years. Sam was 17 and 21 when he biked across the country. Given the age difference, I decided to make my trip easier by having a support vehicle versus carrying all my equipment and by staying in hotels versus camping. Even with that it still feels a little daunting but I have been training and I am motivated. Wish me luck! Let the biking begin...
